I stumbled onto this article from Time Magazine - How to Live With Just 100 Things (via neatorama) and I'm wondering if I can pull it off. Here are the rules to the 100 Thing Challenge. Now here's the key...you can limit the number of items that are "personal". So if you are sharing a place with someone else (family/significant other/friend/etc.), then then you can exclude the common items used by everyone such as furniture, plates, major appliances, etc. Seeing how I live by myself, I'm not sure if I want to bend the rules on this. There's no mass public transportation where I live, so I need my car to go to work, groceries, and what not. I guess I could call a taxi, so that's a maybe.
Anyhow, I'm going to keep this a theoretical model for the time being. I'm curios on the number of items I truly have. Heck, I probably have close to 100 items in the tech world alone. I have 4 digital cameras, which all are used at least once a year. I guess that I would have to count all the accessories for them as well and when you add up the lenses, filters, batteries, chargers, memory cards, and cases, that would take up about 50 slots. Hmm...I have three MP3 players - my 80 gig Ipod, which has most of my music on it, plus some videos and pics, a small creative mp3 for when I exercise or do something outdoors and a 30 gig Zune that I keep at work. I have two computers (a desktop and a notebook), three external hard drives (I have a system for that). Now looking to my left, I see about 60 some books on my book case, which about 40% I've read (I'm a sucker when it comes to finding used books). And I haven't even begun with my clothes. So....creating my model will take some work. I'll probably work out a list of my list some time this week. Stay tuned...
p.s. - I would love to see what everyone would choose as their 100 personal items.
I'm not sure what this is suppose to be, but the trailer is pretty funny. Click below for more info or just watch it at http://www.ffk-wilkinson.com/fr/. Enjoy!
If my cat Fritz was still alive, I'd torment him with something like this. Then again, everyone would know how messy my place is. Scratch that... Click on the link below to check out his Perrrrrfect photos. (sorry for the bad pun).
