Vox Hunt: Sixth Grade Serenade

Share a song you listened to in 6th grade.
For me, it would of been 1984/1985. Say what you will about the 80s, but there are some great tunes that come from that time frame that can still be enjoyed today. One of my all time favorite is Dire Straits hit, "Money for Nothing".

Another great 80s hit that still stands in the test of time is Bruce Springsteen's 1985 hit, "Born in USA". For whatever reason, Youtube won't let me embed it, but you can hop over there to see it - Bruce Springteen - Born in the USA.

Not sure why, but my feet always taps to "Sussudio", by Phil Collins. This one definitely has some of the 80's sounds to it with the synthesizer and such. Still, I think you can play this today and get away with it. I think the video is cheesy, so just minimize the video and dance away.

You have to include Duran Duran whenever you talk about 80s music. Here's their hit from the James Bond Movie, "A View to a Kill" The movie itself isn't that good, but Christopher Walken does portray an excellent Bond villian.

Like it or not, Miami Vice came out when I was in 6th grade. This quote from Wikipedia sums it up the best -- "The series starred Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas as two Metro-Dade Police detectives working undercover in Miami. Unlike standard police procedurals, the show drew heavily upon 1980's New Wave culture and music. It is recognized as one of the most influential television series of all time. People Magazine stated that Miami Vice "was the first show to look really new and different since color TV was invented." To me, no other video can sum up the look and feel of the mid-80s as Jan Hammer's, "Miami Vice Theme"

Been having an 80s flashback today with Glenn Frey's song "You Belong to the City" stuck in my head all day long. After watching this, I think I might just hop over to huhu.com and watch me some Miami Vice.

Eating Healthy = Grouchy Jim

Trying to not eat fast food for a week is tougher than trying to quit smoking. I'm having cravings for mexican, cheeseburgers, Doritos, and cookies. And I'm so getting burned out on salads. I have dropped down a notch on the belt, but food is getting boring.
